What types of home elevators are there? – Part 2

Hydraulic home elevator

The hydraulic home lift presses oil into the cylinder through the hydraulic pump, makes the cylinder move vertically, and lifts the car up and down.

The hydraulic home lift was put into use earlier and is also a relatively mature technology. The cost of hydraulic home lift equipment is 10%~20% higher than that of the traction home lift. Speed regulation and control of hydraulic home lifts are not as good as traction home lifts.

At present, newly installed commercial elevators rarely use hydraulic systems, but some domestic elevators and freight elevators are still in use.

For some customized home lifts, such as a straight-up hydraulic system for a full-circle glass wall home elevator, hydraulic lifts are easier to implement. The installation method is divided into direct lifting and indirect lifting , among which indirect lifting is more common. Direct lifting structure requires a deep space to place the hydraulic cylinder in the pit. Civil construction conditions and future maintenance issues need to be considered. Also, when the lifting height is high, it is necessary to consider how the hydraulic cylinder is transported and placed in the hoistway.

High-quality hydraulic oil has little smell, but because the well is closed, people who are sensitive to smell need to take that into account.

The power consumption of the hydraulic home elevator is higher, and it is about 4 to 5 times that of the traction home lift.

Force driven home elevator

Force-driven home elevators are similar to the structure of the hoist, such as the driving in the factory or the port.

At present, forced-drive home elevators only account for a small market share. The motor of force driven home elevators can be placed in the upper and lower location in the lift shaft.

The upper location has higher requirements on the top space, and the lower location is placed on the side or behind the car walls.

Because of its non-counterweight structure, it has a high hoistway space utilization rate.

Due to its structural limitations, only two wire ropes can be used at most, which has a lower safety factor.

Force driven home elevators must withstand the sum of the unbalanced forces of the car and the rated load. The counterweight traction home elevator only needs to bear the static unbalance force of about half of the rated load.

Forced drive home elevators often need to be equipped with a reduction box. The overall safety, comfort and noise control of a force-driven home elevator are not as good as those of a counterweight traction home elevator, and the equipment cost is also relatively high. Due to the limitation of the size of the winding drum, the lifting height of the forced driving home elevator is usually not more than 15m.

The power consumption of force driven home elevators is larger than that of counterweight traction home elevators. For example, for a 400kg home elevator, the counterweight structure of the home elevator is only about 1kw, while the power of the forced-driven home elevator is about 3~4kw.

Screw home elevator

The screw home elevator uses the relative motion between the screw and the bearing nut to drive the home lift car to run up and down.

The drive motor and control system of a home elevator are integrated in the car. The overall structure of the elevator is very compact. It has a high hoistway space utilization rate and can realize a wall-less structure. Only a small pit and top space is required.

Due to its compact structure, it is easy to realize diversified products, and the overall appearance is simple and elegant. Usually a hand-pull door or an automatic pivot door structure is used. There is no shock absorption device in the car, and the comfort and stability of the car running are inferior to that of the traction home elevator.

Door structures are far less secure than automatic sliding doors.

The rated speed of screw home elevators is usually less than 0.2m per second, which is only half of the speed of traction home elevators. It will take near 1 min from ground to 9 meters high.At present, the market share of this product is low, mainly imported brands, and the price of accessories is high.
