- Overspeed Governor Tension Weight
It is normally composed of a lower wheel, a mounting bracket, a weight and a limit switch. In good service, the wheel center and the weight should be in a horizontal line, which depends on different designs. When the rope is too loose or broken, the limit switch will be triggered to stop the elevator immediately, which is definitely a safety issue.
When there are other floors below the elevator pit, it is highly suggested to install another overspeed governor for the counterweight separately .
- Cabin/Counterweight Buffers
Anchored on the ground to provide the last protection of the cabin falling into the pit. The buffer can be equipped with a rubber head on top, strong spring or hydraulic cylinder to make a relatively soft stop. Some of them will also have a limit switch.
- First Cabin/Counterweight Rail and Bracket
This is the beginning of guide rails so it is the first few steps to install an elevator, the position of which should be defined by plumb lines, hanging from the top floor. The cabin/counterweight will slide along the rails until the shaft top.
- Counterweight Guard
Counterweight is composed of many weight pieces and framework. When falling onto the counterweight buffer at the high speed, it might scatter and make damage at a wider range. Counterweight Guard is used to contain the pieces from scattering.
- Oil Cups
Lubricant on rails will always move downwards to ground under gravity, which might make a mess in the pit. Oil cups are used to contain the lubricating liquid inside.
- Compensation Chain Restriction Brackets
They are used to stop the compensation chain swelling around when traveling at a high speed to ensure the minimal of noises and safety issues.
- Absolute Encoder Tape Tension Spring
Absolute encoders is a popular component of modern elevators for accurate leveling control. This spring is to ensure the code tape is working under designated tension. If it is too loose or broken, a limit switch will be triggered.
- Shaft Positioning Metal Tape Tension Spring
This type of shaft positioning device is kind of conventional, which uses proximity switches and magnets to work together to decide the position of the cabin. This spring is to ensure the metal tape is working under designated tension. If it is too loose or broken, a limit switch will be triggered.
- Pit Inspection Box
Just like the inspection box on the cabin top, elevator mechanics also need an inspection box in the pit to drive the cabin up and down at a slow speed.
- Pit Emergency Stop Button
Whenever someone is working in the pit and an emergency happens, the technician would push the button to stop the elevator immediately.
- Pit Ladder
It is used for climbing into and out of the pit. Depending on different designs, some of them can be contractible to save the space in the shaft.
